We love celebrating Valentine’s Day as a couple, but lately, we’ve expanded our February Date nights to include our children! This includes adventures to try as a whole family, or time spent one-on-one time between a parent and a child. This Valentine's Day spend the week leading up to the big day on individual dates with your kids, or take the whole family out on a date! There are lots of fun things to do in Utah County for families, and here are our favorite date night ideas for families. Pick a fun new outing and have fun together!

1. Just Add Chocolate

Learn how to dip your own chocolates at Just Add Chocolate. This is so much fun for kids because they can create their own chocolates and be independent! We loved this affordable activity that gives you something sweet to share.

2. Throw Art Studio

We had never touched a pottery wheel before we went to Throw!, but after some instructions and a little help, all of us left with beautiful pottery pieces. This is a great way to get in touch with your creative side and make something that will last. You can even share a wheel, meaning two people make one piece, if you want to work together on your piece.

3. See a Play at the new Ruth Theater

We love attending the theater. Utah County has quite a few family-friendly theaters, but we are most excited to go check out the new Ruth Theater (The new, updated version of Hale Center Theater Orem). Frozen Jr is running through February 8, and Cinderella starts shortly afterward. Both shows are perfect dates for any age.

4. Eat at The Social in Provo

The Social isn’t just a restaurant, but a whole cooperative experience. There are a variety of local restaurants featured on the menu, as well as amazing famous mocktails. After you order, find a seat and enjoy all of the family games while you wait. There is also live music or karaoke. Your family will love being social at The Social.

5. Escape Rooms

Working together to solve puzzles and escape is a great way to develop teamwork within your family. There are a lot of great spots to take families for escape rooms in Utah Valley. These are four family-friendly escape rooms that we have tried and loved:

6. Comedy Sportz

There is nothing better than laughing together, and Comedy Sportz brings lots of laughs. This is an improv show, so you never know what will happen. But it is guaranteed to be family-friendly.

7. Canoe at Clas Ropes or ZipLine Lights

Clas Ropes has a lot of fun events throughout the year, and two that happen in the winter are canoeing or Ziplining through the holiday lights. It is super magical to float gently down the Provo on a canoe underneath sparkling lights. For the more adventurous, you can zipline over them. So bundle up and have an amazing outdoor adventure.

8. Heber Hatchets

Looking for a more physical family activity? Stop at Heber Hatchets. They teach you how to throw hatchets, as well as other things like ninja stars. Then play different games as you throw and score. We had so much fun trying to improve our shots. Some of us never did!

9. UVU Art Museum

Visiting the UVU Art Museum feels like a special date because it is in a historic mansion. This old house is beautiful and is now home to lots of art. There are art education stations around the museum for kids to stay involved. Plus, on certain days they have hands-on activities in their Open Studio. Best of all, it’s FREE.

10. Planetarium Show or Mission

The Christa McCauliffe Planetarium has three different family adventures for couples or families. One is a planetarium show. These shows are in the big dome theater and can be a movie on the screen or learning about the stars. We really enjoyed taking a tour of the night sky. This planetarium also has a super fun mission adventure. Your team (family) is given a mission, and everyone has roles. You have to complete your space mission in the time allotted. It can get intense, but it is fun, too. The planetarium also has laser shows! Enjoy lasers making patterns and designs on the screen to your favorite type of music. This was our favorite activity at the Christa McCauliffe Planetarium!

11. Rad Tag

Laser Tag is another active adventure that is really popular with the teens. Rad Tag has a fun  set up for playing unique types of tag games and working as a team or on your own. Our family loved playing laser tag in their big room. Our boys can’t wait to go back again.

12. Valentine Lights: Lehi

There is a home in Lehi that goes all out for lights, which they keep rotating all throughout the year. Each holiday features a new light theme. We love driving by the Valentine’s Lights when they are all red and pink. They also have a small scavenger hunt for the kids, which is FREE. Make sure to drive slowly, or get out and walk so you can find everything!

13. Ice Skating

Another great activity for teens and tweens is learning something new like Ice Skating. This is a great family outing for any age, but our boys enjoyed it more when they got a little older. Provo Peaks Arena is the perfect spot because it is indoors and reasonably priced. Hold hands as a family as you help each other around the ice!

14. Classic Fun Center Skating

If ice skating isn’t your thing, what about roller skating? Our boys love trying to go as fast as they can (and staying on their feet)! They also enjoy the music and spend most of their time waiting for their favorite song to play. This is another fun one to do as a family.

15. Grab a Treat

Our boys are always happy to get a treat, and this is an easy way to have a quick date night that is fairly inexpensive. There are some awesome places to check out desserts throughout the valley. Check out any of these favorites:

16. Jump Together

If you like being super active, then a jump place is definitely a great Valentines Day activity. These spots are all Indoors, so you will be plenty warm after jumping, hopping, and climbing for a few hours.
