Follow the ultimate itinerary for a family-friendly vacation in the valley next to nature.

The Page family, known as the Fun, Cheap or Free family (@funcheaporfree), is in the running for the best staycation itinerary in Utah Valley after making stops all across local cities and outdoor destinations. Think you’ve got the staycation figured out? Check out how this Instagram-famous family made their trip one for the history books.

Exploring urban and eden

With their itinerary planned, the Page’s went on a local circuit of some of the most exciting activities and locales in the city and the mountains for families who love exhilarating fun.

The Pages drove north up the canyon to the top of the Provo River, then took the fun way down with a whitewater rafting blast. It’s not a true outdoor experience unless someone gets soaking wet. A short trip back into the city and the Page’s found Funtopia in Lehi, where the kids were leaping from the walls and clambering over obstacle courses.

They stopped at the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum at BYU (Jordan’s alma mater), which they discovered had fewer beans and more animal displays and educational activities for the whole family. They finished out their ultimate staycation by enjoying the fresh mountain air and local culture at the Lehi Stock Parade and Round-up Rodeo soaking in the country fan-fare with a stunning view of the Wasatch Mountain Range.

Good eats, sweet treats

Expert staycation-ers know that a great itinerary revolves around great food. That’s why the Page’s planned ahead to find multiple favorites to chow down on all across Utah Valley.

The Page’s hit a local, flashy favorite: CHOM Burger in Provo. Stacked variety burgers with toppling trays of fries—from traditional wedges to sweet potato—make CHOM an easy tradition for families with hungry mouths. For a well-rounded experience, they hopped over to the famous Rockwell Ice Cream Factory for generous scoops of irresistible, old-fashioned ice cream.

Fun excursions outdoors and in the city demand hearty fuel, so the Page’s stopped at the Pizza Factory for thick slices of stuffed-to-the-crust pizza. Not the kind of family to miss out on all there is to offer, they stopped at El Mexiquense to load up on the grande servings of some of the best Mexican food around (think monster nachos, beefy burritos, and decadent horchatas).
