Warm nights, cool breezes, and the big screen under the open sky. Utah Valley's outdoor movie season is back and better than ever. Whether you're planning a family night out, a casual date, or just looking for something fun and free to do this summer, we've rounded up every outdoor movie screening happening across Provo, Orem, and the SCERA Shell so you don't miss a single one.

Provo City Movie Outdoors

Provo's city park movie series is one of the best deals in the valley. Completely free, family-friendly, and spread throughout the summer so there's always another one just around the corner. All you need to bring is a blanket or some lawn chairs, your favorite snacks, and the people you love. Screenings begin at dusk, so plan to arrive a little early to snag a good spot.

This summer's lineup is a fantastic mix of classics and newer favorites:

June 8: Zootopia Disney's beloved buddy-cop animated film is a perfect opener for the season. If you haven't seen it in a while, you'll be surprised how well it holds up, and the kids will love it no matter how many times they've seen it.

June 15: High School Musical The one that started it all. Whether you grew up with Troy and Gabriella or you're introducing them to a new generation, this is a guaranteed sing-along night. Don't be embarrassed because everyone will be singing.

June 26: Superman A classic superhero night in the park. Bring your cape if you've got one.

The SCERA Shell in Orem is one of Utah Valley's most treasured outdoor venues, and their summer movie series is a step above your typical park screening. Here's what's showing this summer:

June 10: A Goofy Movie (Rated G, 78 minutes) Pure nostalgia. If you were a kid in the 90s, this one hits different on a warm summer night. And if your kids haven't seen it yet, you're about to have a lot of fun introducing them to it.

June 17: Twisters (Rated PG-13, 122 minutes) The storm-chasing blockbuster is a fantastic outdoor movie pick. There's something fitting about watching a movie full of wind and chaos while sitting under the open sky.

July 8: National Treasure (Rated PG, 131 minutes) Showing up twice this summer across different venues, which tells you everything you need to know about how beloved this movie is. If you missed it in Provo, here's your second chance.

July 15: Zootopia 2 (Rated PG, 108 minutes) One of the most anticipated animated sequels of the year. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are back, and this is sure to be one of the most popular nights of the whole series. Get your tickets early.

August 5: Back to the Future (Rated PG, 116 minutes) An all-time classic and genuinely one of the best movies ever made. If you haven't seen it on a big screen before, this is your moment. Don't miss it.

August 12: Wicked for Good Details are still being finalized, but if the first Wicked film was any indication, this is going to be a huge night. Start planning your outfit now.

Tips for Making the Most of Outdoor Movie Season

Pack early and pack smart. A blanket or two, some camp chairs if you have them, and layers for when the temperature drops after sunset. Bug spray is your friend in July and August. Arrive at least 20 to 30 minutes before dusk to get a good spot, especially for the more popular screenings. And bring more snacks than you think you need because you will always wish you had more snacks.

Most importantly, put these dates in your calendar right now. Summer fills up fast, and there's nothing worse than realizing you missed a great outdoor screening because life got in the way. Utah Valley's outdoor movie season is one of the genuine pleasures of living here. Get out there and enjoy it.
