12 Activities for Teens | Summer in Provo & Utah Valley
Teenagers often get a bad wrap for complaining about family activities or even refusing to participate. Here are a few adventures that will get teens excited to get out of the house and spend time with family or friends. All of these activities received two thumbs up from all three teenagers in our home. Here are 12 teen-approved things to do for the summer in Utah Valley.
Clas Ropes
Clas Ropes is a local activity spot in Provo. They have a ton of different options for kids, teens, and families to enjoy. There is a ropes course, adventure park, ziplines, and canoeing. Teens love to try new things, so this is a fun spot to be adventurous and try a new activity.

Voltage E Bikes
At the mouth of Provo Canyon, Voltage Rentals offers ebikes and electric scooters for rent by the hour. They are located right next to the Provo River Parkway, so it’s easy to hop onto the trail and ride your bike up to beautiful Bridal Veil Falls. There are lots of parks and other stops along the way, too. The scenery really can’t be beat, and the ease of the electric bike makes it even nicer.
The Grid
If your teenager loves to drive, then they are going to love The Grid. The Grid is an indoor go-kart racing track that has two stories. You can go pretty fast and try to make it to the leaderboard. There are also some arcade games inside if they want other activities, too.

Hikes for Teens
Our teens love to get out on the trail and enjoy nature. It’s a great way to stay active and be outdoors, so here are some trails we recommend in Utah Valley for teenagers:
- Buffalo Peak
- Stewart Falls
- Upper Falls
- Scout Falls
- Primrose Overlook
- Battlecreek Falls
- Hike the Y

Labyrinth Reality Games
This adventure is super unique. Labyrinth Reality Games is like a building with lots of mini escape rooms. Every room has a different challenge.
Some are physical, some require more brain power, but all of them are challenges to be figured out. Our boys thought it was fun to keep trying the different rooms until they could make it out. There are 12 unique rooms, so everyone will be entertained for a long time.

Top Golf
Our boys choose this adventure for birthdays and outings every time. They love visiting Top Golf. There are a bunch of different games to play and no golf skill is required, although it does help. You can also grab drinks and food and make it a full outing.

Just Add Chocolate
Make your own chocolates at Just Add Chocolate. This is a great date night for teenagers, but also a fun group outing.
There are a variety of chocolate choices to create, and the workers teach you how to make them all. The best part is that you get to take all of your chocolates home. Yum!!

Escape Rooms
We love escape rooms, and our teenagers are really good at figuring out puzzles. This is a great activity for groups of teenagers to use their brain during the summer. Utah Valley has a bunch of escape room locations with a variety of rooms to try:
- The Escape Date: Pleasant Grove
- Escapes in Time: Orem
- The Escape Key: Provo
- Red Giant Escape Rooms: Orem

Throw Art Studio
One more creative spot that your teenagers will enjoy is Throw Art Studio. You create your own piece on the pottery wheel. We had never done any pottery, but the teachers at Throw are amazing.
They helped us create the most beautiful bowls and cups. We still use them! This is a super fun class for teenagers to try.

Splash Summit Waterpark
When the heat of summer hits, Splash Summit is the place to cool off for older kids and teenagers. There are some super fun, fast slides and plenty of other places to stay cool. There is a challenge course area and a large wave pool. Kids of all ages love going to Splash Summit.

Springville Art Museum
If your teenager likes a little culture, then have them visit the Springville Art Museum. This museum is FREE and it has a lot of beautiful art. There is a hands-on section in the basement for kids, and a few of the activities are great for teens, too.
We love that they house the high school art winners each year, too. It’s neat to see what these amazing teenagers create.

Float the Provo River
This is an amazing adventure for teens to do together. My son did this for a date before a high school dance and they had a blast.
You can rent tubes from UVU or BYU for affordable pricing, and float from the top of Provo Canyon down to Vivian Park. You can also kayak, which is what our family did. The water is chilly, but it feels so nice on a hot summer day.

These are just a few ideas to help you and your teenagers enjoy the summer in Utah County. What do you like to do with your teens?
