When it comes to finding the perfect place to enjoy a warm cup of coffee in Utah Valley, coffee shops are about more than just the drinks – they’re about creating a vibe and an atmosphere where connections can flourish and moments can be savored. These five coffee spots offer more than just great drinks – they create inviting spaces to connect, relax, and enjoy every moment.
Here are my top picks for the most delightful coffee shops in Utah Valley:
5. JJ’s Coffee
Location: 570 E Pk Ave, Orem, UT 84097
JJ’s Coffee is a heartfelt tribute to the founders’ parents, David James Price and Barbara Joan Schultz, whose values inspire the cafe.
Known for its house-made syrups, JJ’s seasonal Brooke’s Banana Bread Syrup latte is a standout, perfectly capturing the comforting flavor of banana bread with a robust espresso kick. The hip interior adds to its charm, offering a cozy spot to relax.
During my visit, I was delighted to learn that their syrups are also available for purchase, letting you bring a touch of JJ’s magic home.
4. The Coffee Shop
Location: 529 S 500 E St e, American Fork, UT 84003
Located in American Fork, The Coffee Shop offers a warm and inviting atmosphere perfect for both meetups and solo work sessions. I loved the communal tables and the cozy lounge where I worked on my computer.
During my visit, I had an iced matcha from their Astrology-themed menu. I’m not a huge matcha fan, but this one was outstanding. I also had a caramel Madagascar and vanilla latte called The Delicious. The name didn’t lie – it was incredible.
The coffee here is of excellent quality, and the barista was so kind. As I came in near the end of her shift, she offered me and everyone else in the shop some leftover baked goods. The chocolate-orange cake bread I had was moist and flavorful, with a perfect balance of chocolate and citrus.
3. Java Junkie
Location: 16 W Center St, Provo, UT 84601
If you’re searching for a laid-back vibe with exceptional service, Java Junkie is the place to be. I opted for their classic Caramel Cobain latte, which is part of their signature menu, where drinks are named after famous (mostly deceased) people. Other fun options include The Heath Ledger, Amy Winehouse, and Marilyn Monroe.
The building itself has a unique character, featuring a barber shop upstairs at the Provo location and regular live music events that add to its lively and inviting atmosphere. Plus, their sandwiches, like the Van Down By the River, are stellar. It’s a vibe you don’t want to miss.
2. Guayoyo Cafe
Location: 19 S Main St, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062
Guayoyo Cafe, serving up Latin American flair, brings a unique and vibrant experience to Utah Valley. Their cafe is right on the historic Pleasant Grove on Main Street which feels like stepping into a Hallmark movie, complete with its charming and picturesque atmosphere.
I visited during the holidays and enjoyed their seasonal coffee flight, which was a delightful mix of flavors. I tried their S'mores Mocha, Peppermint Crunch Latte, Tiramisu Caramel Latte, and Latte de Pistachio, each one offering its own unique and indulgent twist.
Their empanadas are absolutely delicious and pair perfectly with their rich coffee. The bright and cheerful atmosphere reflects the hospitality and culture of its roots, making every visit memorable.
1. Incidental Coffee Roasters
Location: 27 N 100 W St, Provo, UT 84601
Walking into Incidental Coffee Roasters, you’re greeted by the comforting hum of a small, intentionally crafted coffee shop. Housed in a quaint building off 100 W, this spot keeps things simple, and that’s exactly why it’s so good.
Owners Dylan and Jaqui are all about quality, roasting their own beans and making everything from scratch, from syrups to pastries. Their menu is small but deliberate, ensuring every drink is made with care.
I ordered a cappuccino, and you can taste the difference in their in-house roasted coffee. It had a balanced flavor with a slight tang. (Bold but smooth). Whether you’re in the mood for an espresso, chai, matcha, or a fresh-baked treat, Incidental is the perfect place to slow down and savor the moment.
Whether you’re in the mood for a rich Venezuelan latte, an eco-friendly coffeehouse experience, or simply a great cup of coffee in a relaxed setting, these five spots in Utah Valley have something for everyone.
