Whether you're a BYU student looking for a study break or a local chasing some peace and quiet, Utah Valley has no shortage of incredible spots to string up your hammock. Here are five of the best.

1. Rock Canyon Park 📍 1502 E 2300 N, Provo, UT 84604

Rock Canyon- Hammock

Tucked at the mouth of Rock Canyon in Provo, this park delivers dramatic limestone cliffs as your backdrop. Mature cottonwoods and maples line the trail and provide solid anchor points, while the sound of a nearby creek makes for a deeply peaceful afternoon hang. It's close to campus, yet feels like a world away. Best visited in the fall when the leaves turn.

2. South Fork Park 📍 4988 N South Fork Rd, Provo, UT 84604

South Fork Park Hammock

Head up Provo Canyon and you'll find South Fork Park sitting right along the South Fork Creek. The dense riparian forest — full of oak, box-elder, and maples — gives you plenty of hammock-friendly spots in the shade. It's a popular picnic area, but wander a bit and you can usually find a quiet corner all to yourself.

3. Big Springs Park 📍 7201 N South Fork Rd, Provo, UT 84604

Big Springs Hammock

Nestled further up South Fork Canyon, Big Springs is one of the most underrated green spaces in the valley. Natural springs feed into the surrounding landscape, and tall aspens and maples create a lush, shaded canopy perfect for hammocking. The vibe is calm and unhurried — bring a book, stay a while. Incredible fall colors in October.

4. Tibble Fork Reservoir 📍 American Fork Canyon Rd, American Fork, UT 84003

For the hammock enthusiast who wants a bit more adventure, Tibble Fork up American Fork Canyon is worth the drive. The reservoir is stunning, the mountain air is crisp, and the aspens and pines provide plenty of tree options with views of Box Elder Peak and Mount Timpanogos. Note there's a small day-use fee to enter the canyon. Go on a weekday if you want the quiet alpine experience without the crowds.

5. American Fork Beach 📍 Utah Lake, American Fork, UT

American Fork Beach- Hammock

Sitting right on the shores of Utah Lake, American Fork Beach offers a totally different vibe from the canyon spots on this list — wide open skies, sweeping lake views, and a flat, relaxed setting. The trees along the beach provide great hammock anchors, and there's nothing quite like swaying in your hammock with a sunset over Utah Lake in front of you. It's easy to access, has plenty of space, and is a perfect low-key option for a casual afternoon hang.

Other Great Hammocking Spots:

6. Battle Creek, Pleasant Grove 📍 850 E 200 S, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062 (Kiwanis Park Trailhead) A local favorite tucked into the foothills of Mount Timpanogos. The canyon is shaded, the creek is beautiful, and there are plenty of trees to hang between along the lower trail. Best in spring and fall.

7. Dry Creek Park, Lehi 📍 100 W 1580 N, Lehi, UT 84043 A hidden gem along a winding creek with tons of mature trees, grassy open areas, and a peaceful trail. One of the shadiest and most underrated parks in the valley for a casual afternoon hang.

8. Hobble Creek Canyon, Springville A scenic canyon just east of Springville with campgrounds like Cherry and Balsam sitting right along the creek. Dense tree cover and a relaxed atmosphere make it a great hammock destination, especially if you want to make a full day of it.

9. Diamond Fork Canyon, Spanish Fork Head up Diamond Fork and you'll find cottonwood-lined river bottoms and shaded pullouts all the way up the canyon. A great option if you want to combine your hammock session with a trip to Fifth Water Hot Springs.

10. The Nebo Loop For those willing to venture a bit further south, the Nebo Loop Scenic Byway offers stunning scenery, forested campgrounds, and plenty of spots to string up a hammock along the way — especially near Payson Lakes.

11. Nielsen's Grove Park, Orem 📍 800 S 800 E, Orem, UT 84097 One of the most beautiful parks in Utah Valley and an absolute hammock paradise. Nielsen's Grove is packed with massive mature trees, open grassy areas, and peaceful ponds — basically a hammock lover's dream. It's well-loved by locals for a reason, and once you visit you'll understand why it deserves a spot on this list.
