Who doesn't love to seeing women as they race the clock and try to block their competitors from scoring points, all while trying to avoid major injuries? Did I mention this all happen on roller skates? If you're ready for some great skating action, come out to Happy Valley Derby Darlins Season Opener on Friday March 6th at the UCCU Center. The Rollin' Rebellion, Daughters of Anarchy, and Sirens of Steel will play in three action-packed games. The season opener will also feature the first official scrimmage of the Bridal Veil Dolls, HVDD's intermediate team. Doors open at 5:30. Kids 10 and under get in free!

This weekend you also have the Annual LDS Film Festival. This years featured films are Garrett Batty's Freetown which tells the true story of a group of Liberian missionaries who attempt to flee the widespread violence in their country and escape to Freetown in Sierra Leone and T.C. Christensen's The Cokeville Miracle. The Cokeville Miracle also retells a gritty true story, set in 1986 Cokeville, Wyoming, where a mad man and his wife took over the elementary school and held everyone hostage with guns and a bomb. Two hours later, the bomb went off with over one hundred children and teachers within feet of the explosion, but only two deaths associated with the incident occurred: the two intruders.

Other highlights of the LDS Film Festival include a series of presentations titled From Book to Screen with presentations by Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game), Jerusha Hess (Austenland) and other writers and filmmakers on Friday, March 6.

The cast of BYUtv's comedy show Studio C talks exclusively about their new season of sketches on Saturday, March 7.

Several short film programs showcase films by young LDS Filmmakers, including the Academy Award nominated short documentary White Earth by J. Christian Jensen.
