"The Theatre, the Theatre, what's happened to the Theatre?" Well it's alive and kicking in the Utah Valley! This weekend we have multiple productions going on, some at the end of their run with a couple others premiering. Hale Center Theatre Orem's rendition of Les Miserables, Utah Valley University's Short Attention Span Theatre, The Boy Who Loved Monsters, and You Can't Take it With You are all ending as are The Echo Theatre's A Day in the Death of Joe Egg and the Covey Centers Shrek Jr. If you wanted to see any of these plays, you better get your last minute tickets because they all end this weekend.
Orems' SCERA Theater will be continuing their run of Guys and Dolls. In this play "the action centers around four major characters. Gambler Nathan Detroit tries to secure enough cash for the biggest craps game in town while evading the local cops. His long-suffering girlfriend Adelaide laments that they've been engaged for 14 years. Sky Masterson could front the game, but he is spending his time chasing a straight-laced missionary, Sarah Brown. Add mayhem with a memorably brassy score by Frank Loesser, and chaos reigns until all the guys and gals end up right where they belong." Which favorite musical numbers such as "Luck be a Lady" and "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat" this perennial favorite is sure please everyone.
The Lehi Art Center will premiering their version of She Loves Me. This musical is an adaptation of the play Parfumerie and was a precurosor to the movie She's Got Mail. Come watch as Amalia Balash and George Nowack fall in love amidst the antics of their co-workers.
