Pizzeria 712 is a hip pizza place on State Street in Orem. The restaurant's owner, Joseph McRae, is also the owner of Communal and Mountain West Burrito, so this place shares the same commitment to buying fresh, local ingredients, which translates to more delicious food!

Pizzeria 712 has been open for nine years in their current location, and they have plans to expand this summer. The restaurant gets pretty crowded at times, especially on the weekends, so the expansion will allow Joseph and his team to host even more pizza lovers.

So where does the name "Pizzeria 712" come from, you ask? Joseph told us that when they bought their first oven for the restaurant, it came with a manual with instructions from an Italian chef on how to cook the perfect pizza, and that the ideal temperature to cook a pizza is 712 degrees. Thus the name "Pizzeria 712" was born.

Now for the food. We were able to sample the two pizzas: the Margherita and the Bianco. Now I have to say that I am not a tomato person—I'm the guy that's always peeling them off my hamburgers. Needless to say, I was a little hesitant to try the Margherita pizza since the main topping is tomato sauce. However, as soon as I tasted the Margherita pizza I was completely shocked at how much I loved it. The tomato sauce had a sweet, rich taste to it that was really quite delicious! The Bianco pizza was also right up my alley, and it definitely a good choice for anyone who enjoys that cheesy, breadstick-style taste.

Another popular pizza at Pizzeria 712 is "The Ernie" which is named after Joseph's father, Ernie McRae, who loves this particular pizza. This pizza comes with carmelized onions and salami and is one of the big sellers. And of course, no Pizza place would be complete without a couple of good dessert options, and Pizzeria 712 has three great choices: chocolate pudding, panna cotta, and rubarb crisp. The rubarb crisp is seasonal—there is always one rotating dessert that features whatever is in season at the time.

Pizzeria 712 is a great place to go for some high-quality food. Joseph prides himself on providing the choicest of ingredients to his customers, and he says that it breeds customer loyalty. Try a pizza yourself, and I'm sure you'll agree.

If you go, Pizzeria 712 is open for lunch from 11:30-2:30, and for dinner from 5-10. They are open until 11 on Fridays and Saturdays, and closed on Sundays. They are located inside the Midtown Village apartments on State Street in Orem (and I'm happy to see that they're finally completing construction on those apartments). Check out Pizzeria 712 for youself, and make sure to say hi to Joseph while you're there!
