Hockey and
women’s lacrosse, while not intercollegiate or extramural sports, are recognized by BYU. The Cougars have won 10 national championships in NCAA competition from football, men’s volleyball, men’s golf, women’s cross country and men’s track and field combined.
Intercollegiate sports include baseball, football, softball, gymnastics, and men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, golf, swimming and diving, tennis, track and volleyball. Extramural sports include rugby, men’s soccer and lacrosse, and men’s and women’s racquetball. The club hockey team competes in the ACHA Division II and plays their home games at the Peaks Ice Arena, a 2002 Winter Olympics Hockey venue.

Events held here include basketball games, devotionals, forums, graduation and Christmas Around the World. “The Marriott Center is one of the top five places to play in the country, not just because of its size, but because its facilities are fantastic," said former UTEP head coach Don Haskins, the subject of the 2006 film Glory Road. “If there is a better arena, I haven't seen it." The facility named after J. Willard Marriott, a successful Utah businessman, seats 22,700 screaming fans, is the third largest on-campus arena in the country, covers three acres, and encloses eight million cubic feet.
